Wheatfield with Reaper

Vincent Van Gogh's "Wheatfield with Reaper" was painted in Saint-Rémi, France, 1889.

74 x 92 cm, Oil con canvas.

Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Vincent made four paintings of reapers. Vincent saw the reapers as a symbol of death while the wheat represented people whose lives were being taken. Even so, he did not see this scene as being sad. After all, Vincent said, "everything is taking place in the golden light of the sun".
